IMR 800X in 45ACP

Hello folks

With all my Unique powder gone and no new one to be found, I took a leap of faith and bought 2lbs of IMR 800X.
I know it has been around for ever and I read somewhere, that ol' Ken Waters swore by it!
What is your experience with it?

I am using 230 grs Berry's.

See if it meters in your thrower. It does not work in some throwers.


If it throws, it is good for hotter loads.

A start load with 230gn XTP bullets shoots well out of my SR1911, but I got poor accuracy with max loads. Got some HS-6, so no real need to plug away with 800-X

This. I haven't had much luck with those big flakes. 2lbs will last a long time if you have to fight with it.

Meters like corn flakes. Runs dirty but due to powder shortages I bought 10lbs. Im glad I have it as it is better than nothing.

Also i individually weigh my charges so no big deal with the large flake size. Works great in .357 and .45.
