Anyone tried playing around with this powder? I understand it's relativley new.

I've heard people saying it's good in an AR and wondering if anyone has tired it using a 55gr bullet?

My Lyman manual has no info on it but my Lee Reloading does (I think it is anyways, it says IMR 8208 but no XBR) and looking for a good place to start. I know the Hogdon has it up on it's loading data webpage but not sure it it's specific to an AR.

Also supposed to be very good with temperature swings.

Thoughts?

As temp stable as Varget.
Virtually no flash even when using a muzzle brake.
I'm right around 25gr if memory serves me correct for 55gr Hornady FMJ.
I'll confirm my load when I get home and edit this post.

I use it in all my varmint rifles right now except for my 6mm. I like it so much that I just bought 16lbs of it. The one thing that I found to be a constant with it is it likes to be loaded at or near max loads in all the calibers I have tried. I have not done a lot with it in the 223 and the heavier bullets (60+grs)but I am hoping to start playing with it once it warms up in the spring. It is super accurate in my 204s with 35gr Bergers, my 22-250 with 55gr NBTs and my 222 with 40gr Bergers. It will easily shoot a .5" group in my 223 with 53gr Vmaxs as well.

For those of you using it for an AR15, what load data did you use?

I'm sure the starting load in my Lee Manual is just fine but curious as to what others tried? 55gr FMJ.

I have a source for a decent amount of this but also H335, kinda of at a fork in the road as to which one I want to stock up on. The H335 strikes me as a very easy to meter powder.

Hornady 8th edition 55gr FMJ 22.8 start 25.8 max
Not specific to ar-15 so work your way up 2.200coal

I tried 8208 in my 204 but didn't find any load better than H322. I stayed with the H322 as i have an 8lb jug and it meters nice. Will try it in the 223 and 222 in the spring.

Tried it out at the range last week. Only made 20 rnds starting at the lowest end going up in .5 gr increments. Pretty sure this powder likes a bigger charge. Had cyclilng issues at first at the low end but functioned just find as I got to my max.

Also ran it through my powder thrower and it seems to meter quite well.

I will whip up a few more rounds on the hotter side and see if my groups tigthen up more.
