Well, this past weekend I went to a gun show in Claresholm, Alberta and on a whim I purchased a pound of IMR 8208 XBR. I never heard of this powder, but apparently it's debut' was January 2010. The guy who sold it to me stated that it was designed for the short magnums. After research I discovered that the powder is good for a large range of cartridges. My question is, "what results has anyone achieved with this powder in the 300 WSM?"

Well I don't believe it was designed for the short mags. because it was a winning benchrest powder before the short mags. arrived, it was a "Thunderbird' powder of some note.

Supposedly it works well with a wide range of calibers. I bought a pound on a whim and will try it in something some day.

I'm thinking of giving it a shot (pun intended) in my .257 Roberts AI when I finally get it put together.

RL 17 is the new kid on the block for short mag's, but oddly enough it also works well in the Swede and also the 308 with 200 grain pills.

8208 works well for the 223 in my experience- 1/3 min with 75 grain pills. It can hold its own with the 308, but I've found it to be a little picky in that caliber.
