In 12ga semi-auto Baikal vs Hatsan

These two guns, in 3.5" semi configuration look to be about the same price, give or take.
Anyone ever done a serious side by side comparison.
The hatsan looks to be put together a little better.
 
Turkeyslayer said it, the Baikal is well liked! I have had several, made the mistake of selling my last one to a buddy & immediately regretted it & bought another one!

The Baikal MP153 gets my vote!

My baikal mp153 shoots 3.5" turkey loads and my 7/8oz skeet loads without changing the gas system. Ultra reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Wish they had a 2 3/4" version tho
 
I know 3 baikals that has performed flawlessly for their owners for years. Only know of one hatsan and it's action arm broke during a hunt last year.
 
I have sold them for a few years and have very few problems. They had some early issues with firing pin and locking block failures but those issues are rare now.
I can't give round counts but these guns are out there playing in the same environment as Remingtons,Winchesters, Mossbergs and the like and are not requiring service on a more frequent basis than any other brand.
The people who own them retain them and express satisfaction with their performance.
I don't see any Baikal around here except for the single shots so I can't really express an opinion on their quality but I can say that, for the price, Hatsan's are quite satisfactory.
 
My Hatsan escort (pump) has seen over 10,000 rounds of bird and approx 1000+ slugs and 500+ rounds of buck. Used for everything from 3 gun, duck hunting, bear hunting, grouse and bunnies. Paid about $300 for it 2.5 years ago.

It has been beat to s**t, dropped and dragged over pretty much anything you can think of, hardly ever cleaned...maybe once a season (does get whiped down). Used in the snow, mud, sand, ect.

For the price there is NOTHING to complain about about Hatsan

It fits in at about the price of two Baikals.

In the price range you're looking for the Baikal performs well. I bought one used and it has handled everything from 2 3/4 inch target loads to 3 1/2 inch magnums flawlessly.

I just proved that mine has worked fine...there is worse ways to spend $300. I am sorry its not a big name, high price tagged gun but it works and cycles nicer then any new 870 out there. It also does not rust after 12 hours of hunting :)

Style is a personal choice...I think glocks look like #### but there are others who wank off over then. All relative.
 
The Baikal MP-153 is truly a tough gun. It is one of the few semi-automatic shotguns that I have had no returns on due to problems/warranty. Hundreds sold and not one returned, we even see the odd Beretta back with problems but not the Baikals. The versatility from light 2 3/4" shells to 3.5" shells without adjusting anything is something that isn't expected in a gun for only $499.99.

I've heard nothing but good things about Baikal, but no stores I went to stocked them.
Had I known that Gagnon stocked them, I might own one right now. I'll have to stop in one day and check them out.
