I am considering Safari in the future in Africa, most likely for Water Buffalo, and perhaps some predators. Is .303 British still an accepted caliber?

Have lots of money? Do lots of research. Lots of sites on-line.
In South Africa, .375 calibre is minimum by law for dangerous game. Lot of rules about firearms. Total of three firearms, no semi's, one rifle per calibre and a temporary import permit.
A Cape Buffalo is dangerous game. Trophy fees are huge. In SA, a buff runs around $10,600US. A lion $18,000US, plus. Least expensive is $100 for a jackal. Wound it, you pay the trophy fee.
Some outfitters include trophy care and transportation, some don't.

You need to do some research. Having Cape Buffalo and 303 in the same sentence is not a good sign. There are a number of forums, as well books on hunting in Africa. There are also a number of threads in this forum. As others noted....Cape Buffalo is rather pricey...so you really need to read up and form a bit more detailed plan...unless as a couple of others have done...it was purely an academic effort to start a discussion..
