For those folks in the GTA looking for .410 slugs, Uxbridge Arms has a current sale on Troy Slug Storm Slugs (25) - $28.99, which is a superb price. I dropped by this morning and grabbed more than a case of it...had a great conversation with Mario and Carter behind the counter, so much so that I lost track of time and my coworkers were ringing my phone wondering where I was (I went on my lunch break...) . Two hours of chatting with these guys just flew by.

Slugs everywhere else are more expensive or you get less so this is a great deal for those who are in the area and are looking.

However, those pictures do not really help. We would need to see the actual projectile like the 12ga slugs in my picture below. Would you be willing to sacrifice one round ... and to cut one up ... and in the name of science and knowledge ... and post a picture of the projectile?

I am curious .... because if it is a Foster slug then it is not suitable for big game hunting and as advertised.
And if it is a Brenneke or Gualandi type slug .... then this would be a first in Canada.

Currently there are no 410 slugs on the Canadian market and that would be suitable for big game hunting. So far I am only aware of Foster 410 slugs and they do not penetrate enough. And Brenneke 410 slugs are not available in Canada.

If this " Troy Slug Storm Slugs" would turn out to be a solid design like a Brenneke or Gualandi ..... then this would be a game changer for Canada.

What is the allure of a 410 slug? Just something to plink with? The ballistics are so poor I couldn't imagine picking 410 to go deer hunting, even if it was a brenneke style?...

My 12ga Truball slugs are accurate enough out to 100 meters and for big game hunting. I am interested in hunting with shotgun slugs, because where I am hunting we are limited to shotguns ..... Shotgun Only Season.

If these " Troy Slug Storm Slugs" turn out to be a solid design like the Brenneke or the Gualandi .... then I would be willing to try them and see what accuracy I would be getting with them from my 410 guns.

I am hunting in the eastern woodlands .... meaning I am hunting in thick forests .... most of my kills are within 50 meters .... some as close as 5 meters or 2 meters.

That would still be enough to ethically kill a deer at 50 meters .... right?

How many deer have been killed in history with the 44-40 or a 44 cal round ball out of a muzzleloader?

But I think we are digressing here .....

No it is definitely not enough for an Ethical kill on deer. Lots of things can kill but big difference in Ethical killing and using the wrong tool for the job.
