Hello all, I don't know if "in-expensive" and "gatling gun" belong in the same title, but what I got in mind might be considered in-expensive as far as large, complex ,fast fireing guns go.

I've seen the 1874 Colt Gatling Gun Replica, but what I to know is if there are other plans out there that are more simpel to build and less-expensive to put together ( if that's possible;)).

Lastly, any legal problems? Myself I dont see anything wrong as long it's over 26" long, not full-auto and .22 rimfire. But just want to be sure.

Thanks.:)

If actuated by a hand crank it may be deemed prohibited if it gets put in the same class as the hand crank operated SA 22RF. " BMF Activator " correct me if I'm wrong but I believe these are classed as a prohibited item for Canada.

Search is your friend.

Gatling gun kits even for 10/22's are prohibited by the function of the trigger. You cannot have a device to assist the trigger to fire at any speed. The only device you can use to procure the function of a trigger on a firearm in Canada is your digit.

If you want to build a Gatling gun shell around your 10/22 but keep the trigger mechanism as it was made, and you shoot it with your finger, have at it.

Unfortunately the crank on a conventional gatling is considered prohib. The reasoning is that as long one continuous pressure is applied to the crank (trigger) it will continue to fire. Did a thread on this a while back.

HOWEVER. What was concluded in the same thread was that a ratchet could be acceptable, as it's not one constant motion. It's somewhere in my past threads started if you want to find it... I'm feeling lazy right now.

You could have a handle that during the swing hits a pawl, which moves the barrel and fires the gun, the handle frees itself and then it hit's another pawl to do the same thing. If they choke on that. A handle that can be made to go back and forth, each stroke catching a pawl that fires the gun, each stroke being distinct.

There's a shop out of New-Zealand that makes them... they also have plans available for the home-machinist-mechanically-inclined guy.

If it's the same one I'm thinking about - i.e. solely actuated by a hand-crank, nothing acting on a trigger - it should be fine (at least per the NFA's legal guru)....:yingyang:

for some absurd reason I thought home made guns were exempt (not that I'd trust any firearm I made lol )

I saw one while in Georgia a few years back, the thing stood about 2' tall with the tripod.

After every click (bang!) the handle had to be pulled back 1/4" to re-set something, then you could crank another 1/4 turn until the next barrel fired.

I guess it could have been legal in Canada since you cannot just 'crank' the handle in one direction and fire away... but at $15,000US... it was a little too expensive for me!

"..."not" prohibited because of the use of a hand crank..." Wasn't before the latest stupid laws were enacted. Evil now. ATF has decided they're evil too.
