Hello all,

Awhile ago, it was suggested that we should separate the in-line from the traditional.

Before we make the move - it will be nice to know if it is the preferred way.

Although I'm primarily an inline shooter, I do enjoy reading traditional or Black Powder Cartridge threads. If they were on a seperate forum I probably wouldn't. There's always lots to be learned from other Black Powder Shooters and some of this will be lost by segregating in my opinion for what it's worth. There's already to much divisiveness in the hunting and shooting community.
 
I voted for a separation but by a narrow margin. My reason is the controversy that always erupts when the inliners come close to suggesting that they are maintaining the spirit of muzzle loading or are just the same as traditional guns.

I voted for single forum.

I just got my in-line last year (for the sole purpose of deer hunting. I hunt in one of those shotgun/ML zones). I had no previous interest in ML. But I'm bitten by the black powder bug. If the forums were separated last Oct. I wouldn't of ventured into the traditional side and really would of missed out in quite a bit.
 
We could make a case for separating the forums, again, and again, and again, until we have separate forums for serial number ranges of whatever make you want to have, and further subdivide those.

Keep it simple for the mods, and everyone else. Blackpowder and antiques all together. Guys want to argue about the relative merits of "their" flavor, can.

Keep'em combined.

Many inliners also delve into cap and ball too. However, I do enjoy the "holier than thou" buskskin clad puritans standing on their keg's of Goex smighting the gortex adorned inline heathens.:D

I voted for both together, I have both and have taken many deer with both. When it comes down to, it no matter what, you still only have one shot and have to make it count. Unless you have a Kodiac then you have two shots.
 
I think where the big discussion should be is whether or not the inline should be used in the same hunting season as the traditional muzzle loader.
The use of scopes, primers that do not get wet, the speed of reloading and the accuracy of the modern inline, has not much in common with traditional hunting. Just my 2 cents. after 50 + years of shooting.

in-line... traditional... a natural separation...just look at the topics discussed on the current ''possible bag forum''...scope and powder pellets issues, chrome barrel...synthetic stocks...and all...I believe that all that good stuff need a nest of it's own.

separate

While I am interested in both, I think they should be separate. Biggest reason is that they really are two different ways of looking at things and it seems that when they communicate they tend to often do so with disdain. I have and love a BP flintlock in the Kentucky/Pensylvania style. Love it. More recently I am looking at getting an in-line simply as a game getter. I would expect the helpful advice for both those issues would be very different. With old style, style and original is important. With inline, you don't care and want the most modern firearm possible within the hunting limits.

I would support a Cannon forum as it is a distinct acivity and when I want to browse that topic, I would have a concentration of pertinent info at hand...the 'goretex possible bag' BP forum we have is in need of seperate beds...in the same room IMO.
 
If the moderators don't mind I'm for separating .

One is modern and they are creating their own history . The other goes back hundreds of years and we who shoot the front stuffers continue that tradition.
 
Inline arms are a completely different animal, more like modern centerfire then a flintlock, .....209 primers, plastic sabots and plastic stocks......YUCK!....

Seperate em, seperate em far far apart:slap:..
 
Not saying there aren't some differences but what is it that offends some of you so much about in-line posts on the same forum? You don't have to read them you know. And no need to show your disgust everytime someone talks about a sabot....we know how you feel. I haven't seen any of the in-line guys making fun of your cute little outfits! :D

They load through the front and belch smoke when you pull the trigger......they are more similar than you know. Don't worry though, I've got a couple caplocks too! Get over yourselves!
