Had to add this just because. Pigdog and I attended a rifle competition in Southern Saskatchewan.

I used my VAR barrelled M1 and Pigdog borrowed my Polytech M14s.

Bugger beat me! It was a two day shoot, iron sights only, any centerfire
non-resticted rifle.
We did place well considering the winds and we actually beat one of the BPCR guys.

The rules stated offhand only, at 100 200 300 and 400 yard targets.
At the end off the formal match a 600 yard gong was set up for a fun shoot.
Down in the dirt I know I had it made!
With Piddog coaching my first few shots I placed 8 out of 11 shots onto the target, of course prone position.

Nicest thing was I now know that my sights are bang on at out to 600 yards.
Best part of the shoot in my opinion!!!!

All in all lots of fun, and great long range rifle shooting!!!

For sure. Almost as plentiful as up there, but the season is shorter. There is a muzzle loader season starting 23 Oct though. Rifle doesn't open until 13 Nov and only runs approx 3 weeks.....likely two deer with M/L and another with rifle. I'll likely be coming back out your way for moose in another year or two though, I kept that option open;)
