I'm looking for a new (to me) scope for my heavy barrel savage model 10 in .223. Its used %90 of the time for target shooting anywhere from 200-600 yards but I plan on trying to stretch the .223 out as far as I can in the future. I think a used scope from the EE would be my best option since I'm a student and a budget. I was thinking of spending $5-800 for a good used scope. Looking for good clear optics with reliable tracking. Just looking to get what others think would fit at this price before I spend the money.

The new Bushnell Engage 6X24X50 is both economical and performs well. I just put one of Savage 10TR and shot it last week, pretty dang good glass for the money, turrets track accurately and has a fair amount of elevation built in.t

Sightron S-Tac is pretty decent, non-illuminated versions start around $600-$650. Made in Phillipines which means decent QC vs the Chinese stuff (Engage, Crossfire, etc).

You'll probably want either AO or side focus for target use.
If you can find one the Leupold VX2 6-18x40 AO are nice scopes. I have one on my 243 Tikka. For range use the target turrets are a real plus. Prophet River had a few left, they may be gone now.
The VX3i 6.5-20 is a nice scope also, but more expensive than the VX2.
