I was wondering in the meantime before I get a OD Green Grip for my M4 if it would be a good idea to remove the grip and paint it with some krylon fusion OD green I have left just so that it will match the rail.

My actual question is not whether I should paint it but if anyone has tried painting the stock furniture on their m4 and how did it turn out with krylon fusion? I painted the stock grips on my P89 and they turned out alright just curious. Thanks.

Any raised area will wear off just from handling, especially the grips since the oil from your skin will break down the paint.

Have you used this paint before? I have a full stock painted with it and it has got oil, snow, dirt, etc on it and it wipes off and the paint looks unfazed. I did try it out (its a replaceable part anyway) So far I have been messing with it and it seems to be alright. The krylon fusion actually seems to soak right into the plastic and i haven't have any come off without using acetone.

Krylon is not as durable as a more expensive gun specific finish would be, but what it lacks in durability, it makes up for in price. It is so cheap, that if and when the paint rubs off, just repaint it.

That said, a close friend painted the stock on his Stevens 200 around 5 monthes ago, and it is still holding up ok, with only a few small chips to the finish.

Two good points. My Stevens has no chips and I brought it out in the woods. Abvously its not duracoat or something amazing but I swear by that paint for application that are gonna get used it holds up(it has a tree stand on the can and think of the abuse they take). after 7 days it says its completely chip resistant but after a couple days I tried scratching some of the paint (i can always repaint) and it held up fine. And yeah I want to replace it with a hogue rubber grip eventually. It just makes it look a bit different and I think it will hold up til then. But thanks for the suggestions

Once I get the rail I will take pics or put them in the thread with all the norincos cause it should look pretty swell. Later

after monkeying around with it and stuff test it out my rubbing my hands back and forth, getting a bit of oil on it and stuff its still holding up just like the other stock and once it wears out I will either have a new grip or just repaint it. It adds a nice touch anyways. Thanks for the tips.
