What sporting rifles do you think are more accurate than the CZ 452/455s? I have not used a Cooped but have an old Anchutz that is very good. My old Bruno HB and Olympic martini are very good, although I don't have the eyes for 100yds with peeps anymore. The new 1712 silhouette Anchutz looks great. Your views, just remember CZ is the bottom base line.;) Aj
 
Anschutz, cooper, , kimber and believe it or not the occasional savage, or a CZ 452 with 16" barrel. not sure why but every 16" cz I have shot is more accurate than the longer barreled CZ's especially when you only use one action screw, like the scout does.

Hi Dave,

I second what you say. I have my father's 541S that he bought back in '85. He could put them in the same hole at 50yds with it. The thing is that it's mint and I hate to take it out for fear of putting a mark on it.

I also bought a nice heavy barrel 541T on here a couple years ago and have never shot it yet. The guy I bought it from is a rimfire guru like yourself and he cautioned me that the S will outshoot the T. I will find out some day.............

CD both my 451's shoot very well. With my abilities I don't see much difference. I just had the sc out in the gopher patch, used it for the first 1000 or so but got sick of the mags not loading well. I went to my VQ barreled 10-22. We shot to about 100 yds. and was not hard to keep shots in minute of gopher. My partner was shooting a 455 evolution so that is why I used it as a base. I also enjoy playing at the range so another 22 won't hurt. Like many here I have too many already. :)

Try faster ammo in your longer barreled CZ's. My 452lux shoots 32gr 1640fps (rated) CCI at MOA out to 75 yards, a little over MOA at 100 yards. None of my shorter barrel .22s - of any brand - shoot the Stingers or Quick Shots (segmented hollow point stingers) worth a darn.
 
I know we all laughed at the 10/22 suggestion but when fitted with a better quality barrel and shooting some sort of ammo that groups well from such a barrel a basic 10/22 can be elevated to performing well and still be the same sort of weight you'd expect of a "sporting rifle". One such example is the liner and alloy barrels from Tactical Solutions.

I am comparing only the 16" CZ's with the longer barreled cz's. My experience has been the shorter stiffer CZ barrels are more accurate, and noticeably than the longer CZ barrels.

I have yet to find 'faster' ammo of any brand more accurate than target match ammo in any rifle at any length.

MOA at 75 yards, is ok


FWIW, my stable includes or has included a wide variety of very accurate 22's, Suhl, Walter's, Anschutz, etc.
