In the spirit of NEA marketing campaigns, here is the technical article teaser

i'd say NEA has earned the scrutiny, the Shear volume and ground breaking nature of their nea15's has broken them out of the "cottage industry" that most other canadian firearms companies currently occupy... without naming names

I currently have no experience with their products just saying why i think they are getting called out...

^^NEA was never "called out", they were dragged kicking and screaming into a new reality for AR manufacturers. The fact that they didn't realize this going into the project indicates to me they have not spent time on other forums, especially those that pay homage specifically to the platform. It was a bad mistake IMO.

Incidentally, they think they have been singled out for scrutiny, which in plain terms they were not. Every manufacture is open to intense scrutiny now. There are legions of internet nerds with nothing better to do but to throw s**t at a new product.

NEA was lucky they chose to launch primarily on this site. If they had launched their product on forums like M4C, things would not have gone well for them. I don't think I'm overstating it.

I'm glad that NEA was lucky enough to have this information compiled for free for them and that they woke up to this new reality. It just means less headaches an less time defending themselves when they should be focusing on selling rifles.

FWIW, I would consider that Dlask also builds production AR's given the number they have produced over the years, though I believe the NEA guns are nicer in my opinion...

I'm aware of the Dlask and torn on whether it constitutes a production AR or not...but their consistent issues makes a detailed analysis pointless IMO.

This forum is both a good and bad place to play ball. The upside for a manufacturer is that you can put out Norinco-grade ARs and loads of people will still gush over them.

The downside is that Canadians tend to tear down any other Canadian who becomes highly successful.

But it could be worse...it could be arfcom

This is related to our calvinist roots, thank the Scottish :) Canadians have a strong tendency to frown upon those who are "overly" successful, judging them to be greedy or egotistical. I'm not saying NEA is greedy or egotistical, I'm just talking about that Canadian trend.

How many of these companies carry liability insurance for their product?

We do for sure. I think you'd be a fool not to, you're just rolling the dice. Whether it's an accident/incident, product failure or a dumbass behind the trigger doing who knows what with your parts, you have to. In fact, depending on what you're doing with your company you may have to have it for grants/loans, etc. It's expensive, and I know for a fact that there are "basement-based" companies around here that don't have insurance.. it's a cost thing for sure.

Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. We all like our houses. ;)

this is what i was trying to say, when i say they earned the scrutiny.

and sorry i used called out... scrutinized work better?

Yep, can't wait. I hope that it has some conclusions and/or evaluations to go along with it instead of pure raw data, as many of us won't understand what the raw data means. We will read it and ask "is that good?"

I'm really sorry, guys, I just don't have as much time to work on it as I would like...my work duties changed and the only reason I spend time on CGN at all is the process of getting logged in to my field work stuff takes about ten minutes of waiting around, so I get these brief spurts of surf time but nothing long enough to get any proper editing done. I am trying to get it finished but I just don't have any time since I got laterally "promoted".

No worries...the forum has grown used to everything NEA related being delivered late.:D
