I would really suggest that you take a trip to a dealer and handle the 3 guns that were suggested in the other thread.......PPX, M&P and the Canik. Don't forget that you will have to draw from the holster, point, shoot, reload etc...... so if the gun doesn't fit your hand well, you won't enjoy the sport.

Thanks ok, I agree, fit is so important. I did get the fortunate opportunity to handle both the Walther PPX and the M&P9 (but not the Canik) I really liked them both. I liked the look and weight of the M&P9 but I liked the feel and the trigger pull better on the PPX. Both guns fit my hand nicely. I think I have average sized hands but I still had trouble hitting the mag release hard enough without changing my grip. The holster on the PPX range kit worked great for me too.

My brother runs a PPX. GREAT pistol for the $. He really enjoys it, and shoots well. I run a PPQ, so I guess we're a Walther IDPA family!
