In your opinion, what is the best AR brand

Ok, so for me I bought a nork just to get into ARs and am very surprised by how well it shot and for the price it was bang on what I was looking for. I bought on Aimpoint pro and some magpul goodies that I plan to transfer over to the new gun or just sell separate when I ditch the nork platform.

Eventually I want to upgrade, probably in the summer pending funds and the few AR brands that I have personally been looking into are in no particular order, Noveske, DD and Knights Armament. Why those brands? No idea just starting to look as I have been into ARs for a month.

So with that said what do you guys (and gals?) consider top notch in the field of ARs? And why?

Cheers,

M

If my LMT sells and I ever decide to buy another AR, which I probably won’t unless they become non-restricted and in which case I’ll get a .308, I’d get a KAC (SR-25). Yeea.

I have owned my Colt SP-1 for 30 + years. Back in the day it would bang through 20 an 30 rd. mags without a whimper. Sometimes after a few mag dumps the gas tube would turn pink but it would never stop running. Nowadays with neutered to 5 shots mags most modern Armalite style rifles in Canada never see their true potential or pitfalls.

Noveske and KAC. They are what I would call "boutique" AR's, VERY high quality and are pretty much the best you can get. Not far behind is the LMT MRP. Then you have BCM, Colt and Daniel Defense.

I wouldn't even consider a piston AR unless it's an HK or LMT. Everything else is inferior.

Agreed 100%.

Bang for the buck? Rock River. Amazingly accurate barrels.

Money no object? Colt or LMT. No reason to spend more, these both work.

I wanted a Colt for years, but there is something about the DD MK18 and the KAC SR15 that has me thinking is there something about them that Colt doesn't have that I missed? I don't know call me crazy. Or a AR noob.

LaRue's another premium brand like Noveske or KAC. The problem is they're priced like a premium brand too and from what I've seen, demand for their products far outstrips supply so it's difficult to get your hands on one even in the States. Are there even any Canadian LaRue dealers? I saw a thread for the AmmoSource that said they were looking into becoming a dealer but I'm not sure how far they got with that.

IMHO -

LWRC

Why? Cold Hammer-Forged Barrel (last forever - just like te SANS), Floating Front End (nothing to move or twist), and of course - it's Piston Driven (keeping things clean until the end of the engagement).

No argument there. After 25 years shooting AR-15's my go-tos are still Colt and LMT for high end price points.
