Increasing Small Arms Lethality in Afghanistan

There was an issue with water getting at the rifles or some such thing, from what I was told most had severe rust and pitting as well as damage to the storage facility itself. Second info hand but reliable.

They should have contracted the prep work to the Chinese or Russians, now they know how to store stuff to make it last. We were an Artillery unit so our rifles were in good shape and we had received about a 40% replacement from war stock around 1982.

Yes shot in the leg with a 7.62x39 round. I'm still here whith a bad knee, once again shot placement is the key!!
And just the other day some guy I work with told me that a "hydrostatic shock wave" would travel along the major arteries and stop the heart, even with a limb hit. It's amazing what some people will believe because they heard it on TV.

13 years 2 tours 1 bosnia and 1 in the sand box. dont tell me your hiding under your bed with ptsd? im just telling it like i live it. my limited lane ends with you doesent it???

Dude there is a BIG difference in being a tech on a tour, and out on the pointy end going looking the enemy.

Your making an ass out of yourself. Do yourself a favor and STFU.

Many of us know Reaper, and if he's hiding under a bed, its to kill someone.

There are a lot of rounds out there now that can make 5.56mm and 7.62mm more effective, but the end result is more aiming, less shooting, more dead bad guys.

Funny, my 1957 2L series was pristine and well loved up to at least 1987. I like carrying the C7 more. Shoot a touch better with the C7 though. Even better with the C7A1.

Dead is dead though. Kind of reminds me of stories about needing another burst of .50 to finish somebody off though.

Now how am I supposed to carve a picture of the Ayotollah into the buttstock of my C7A2???

Telling it like you live it? WTF is that! You have about as much experience as my freaking canteen cup, you know nothing about the topic at hand and are just embarrassing yourself and the CF, give it a rest.

No military experience and not much experience with evil scary black guns....

But i did shoot a bear with a .223, which I think is pretty similar in performance to this "5.56" cartridge I keep hearing about.

The bear fell down and died.....One shot, about 200 yards.

It had a hole through both of lungs.

I expect if you put holes through the lungs of humans, they will die to, but I've never shot a human, although when you skin a bear it does look freakishly like a human with no skin.

I think it's called shot placement.:p

1. You should show some respect.
2. Give it a rest

As for the rest of you...try and refrain from dogpiling people. Thanks

John Muhammad and Lee Malvo shot 13 people with one .223 shot each. 10 people died, 3 survived. Seems lethal enough to me. As far as I can remember they were all torso shots.
