Indestructible .22, within a reasonable price range

Interesting thread this. My Sure Shot (Model 60 Cooey) from Simpson Sears soldiers on after 64 years of service. It has shot as many gophers as it has crows. It has it Ptarmigan in the Territories and Partridge in Alberta. Now i have to admit I looked after it like one should when you pay $22.00 for it It goes to my grandson. His Dad gets a used Model 60 in a month so the two of them can nail rabbits, crows and the odd tin can when my Grandson gets to be 12.
I know the gun was inexpensive and certainly does not have the breeding of say my Anschutz but it shoots just as well. If you take care of your .22 it will last you two lifetimes.

To the OP I have a Savage A22 that has proven over a short time to be an accurate, dependable little gun. If you are looking for something under $300 you won't be disappointed. In a new bolt gun the CZ line is attractive. A used Marlin Model 60 would be something I would look at as well.

Find one you like and enjoy your days on the range or in a gopher field.

Does nobody shoot a Nylon 66??? Mine is 50 yrs old and has had a total of 35 rds through it, Lol

Yes. I good friend of ine passed and left me his Nylon 66. Great little rifle. Shoots better than I can shoot. One of the benefits of being around in the 50's, 60's, & 70's other than Elvis, the Beatles and ABBA.

Bob, ABBA.....................really?;););)

The ladies have voices of angels. They played Edmonton when I lived there but was to busy trying to get ahead in my job to take the time off to see them. They and Elvis are two of the biggest holes in my bucket list of missed opportunities. Well a new Colt SA for $125.US and a Rolex for $325 Cdn. are two anothers.

We had to settle for Paul McCartney instead of the group but man, you gotta love Sir Paul. When you love their music and you get to know the kind of person the man behind the music is (or was in Elvis' case), next time your hear their songs, you're taken to a different place.

You realize all the 30 year old's reading this thread have no idea what we are talking about. My wife was a screaming teenager when the Beatles hit Vancouver. Her Uncle got her a ticket. She says she did not scream. Like I believe her. LOL Agneta is still a sweetheart at 70.

Can't nock quality!!

Word of caution with the Canadian stocks; some (I had one) have bad black stain that is water soluable; I got caught in a light rain, and had a black mess everywhere. CZ were going to replace my stock with a new one, and the Waranty center gave me the go-ahead to try and fix the finish as it was going to be more than a few weeks to get a replacement. I washed the black stain out with warm water and a tooth brush, let it dry well, then re-stained with about 3 coats of Minwax Ebony stain, then sealed it with tong oil. Worked so well, I called them and canceled the replacement stock. Note, the rest of the stock is sprayed hot lacour finish; super high quality. Check yours with a bit of water.

You would be very surprised...my daughter who is a teenager, loves Simon and Garfunkel, Beatles, Commodores, America, Boston, and Boney M (well, 5 out of 6 ain't bad). My lady friend's daughter (also a teenager) loves 70s music. My niece (also a teenager) loves Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Chicago.

There is hope for the future generation yet!
