I have an India Pattern musket stamped on the barrel in front of the breech with the regimental marking MSR.D.No 9, and with D.No 9 on the buttplate tang. The lock has a first-type (swan neck) ####, but the name of the barrel maker suggests that the musket was set up not before 1807. I know of only one other musket with this marking, another India Pattern with a second-type (ring-neck) #### - so set up not before 1809 - with the barrel stamp MSR No 87.
I acquired this musket in Ontario a few years ago, and believe it may not previously have been in collectors' hands. Has anyone else come across a musket with MSR markings in Canada?
Thanks!
