After this weekends match, my dog's are barking! Actually, the pain goes all the way to the hips.

Looking for some feedback on a decent pair of shoes well suited to being worn on a concrete floor indoor range for several hours. Comfort is paramount, and traction is a nice to have.

I'm sure others have had similar experiences, I am somewhat flat-footed (extra bone in my right foot) which I think causes me somewhat more discomfort.

So far I've heard the following recommends, ASICS, saucony and solomon speed cross.

Thanks,

The brand name isn't as important as the type of shoe. If you are flat footed, you will want a motion control shoe.

Not necessarily. Whilst there is a strong correlation between flatfootedness and the tendency to over pronate, it is not absolute. Motion control shoes tend to be ramped for severe over pronation and can cause knee and IT band issues unless they really are required.

Get a proper foot and gait assessment done if you want the best fitting shoe for a specific purpose.

The main problem is that the OP was on a concrete floor. No matter the type or brand of shoe, concrete is very unforgiving if you're spending hours on it. Ever notice that joggers/runners will run on a paved road or stone shoulder instead of a concrete sidewalk? They honestly don't run on the road just to piss off motorists.

I'd suggest looking at shoes meant for courts, they are made for similar shoes 'abuse' style (foot movements) as what we do when shooting.
I got 2 pairs of ASICS, one is for indoor range and is meant for courts and another is trail running shoes I use on outdoor range.
There is Adidas Kanadia and Thrusher that are also great for outdoor ranges and are legal in IDPA as well.

IDPA rules actually regulate footwear brands and models?

You cannot (at least you are not supposed to) wear stuff like football cleats at an outdoor match - the rationale is that a competitor is wearing 'street' clothes - what one would wear while doing every-day stuff while CCW.

In addition to the court shoe recommendation, I would go further and advise steering clear of shoes made of mesh material - the amount of lead and crap on most indoor range floors will soil a pair of shoes in no time - at least with a solid material, you can wipe it down with a de-lead type cloth if required.

I am on my feet all day on hard tile floors and concrete. A long time ago I bought a pair of Hush Puppy dress type loafers from the bay and since then it's all I buy. They are the most comfortable and long lasting shoes I've ever tried. Good Luck
