Indoor shooting in Ottawa?

I am ok with that, I will do it.
I am not at EOSC unless there is an IDPA practice or match so I don't go often. I really like it there and the guys running it (Greg & Joe) are great.

I am hoping to swing by RA this week, I would like to hook up with someone from this forum so they can introduce to the group instead of bombing the practice with no previous notice.

Thanks, I always like to hear we are doing a good job.

We just posted our 2014 Schedule on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/#!/eoscidpa), although odds are we will do 1 or 2 outdoor IDPA Matches this Winter.

A little full of ourselves are we

FYI...IPSC Ontario is 1400 members and growing. The organization must be doing something right...

Sure I can do that for the SO peace of mind, although in all honest considering all the experience I have and being one of the best shooters at my range and being at the top in local at IDPA competitions, EOSC, SMITH FALLS and among my local IDPA GROUP, I think the black badge course would be a waste of my money and would rather use that money towards training on handgun speed, reloading, with a tactical professional... I am not a newbie, but I understand others at the range or group do not know me and 'safety first', I am all good with that, so bottom line, if there is no other choice that doing it in order to join, I will.

I wonder why Instead of being all separate organizations there is niot one homogeneous group or ORG that could share a database of shooters, then, the different disciplines could have different rules but at least cover the basics such as safety. That way it would be easier to browse through different activities/shooting disciplines instead of jumping the same HOOP 2 times, like in my case. All safety courses should be unified allowing the shooter to join any organization he likes.

I think this type of prohibitionist rules (like separate safety courses) are great to demote the sport.

How come no one though about this before? ...blows my mind!

Thank for all the help!
If anyone here is going to the range this Thursday, please let me know so I can introduce myself. Thanks.

Quigley, we all know that these shooting sports do have their share of members with ego ;)
The results will tell the truth at the end of a day.

so it's IDPA with a lot of former IPSC shooters that got fed up with the scoring system and guys shooting race guns, that is what I heard.

But that was not my point of that post, I was making a point that would be a lot EASIER to shoot more disciplines, hence, promoting ALL pistol disciplines instead of having clicky(lol) groups.
See the difference?

It hard to read other people's words through email or forums posts, I was not trying to make this an IDPA VS IPSC or IPSC IS THE BEST or IDPA IS THE BEST post, because it's not about that.
Both organizations have their own holstering + safety courses, and you have to do both to join each one? why? what's the difference? There might be a difference that I might be missing, perhaps? I thought that all holsters are the same, hence, rules and safety procedures should be the same.

Neither I was trying to show off, I was just trying to make a point. At the end of the day I would like to be able to shoot more, and have fun within a nice group of shooters. That is all.

I'm sure people have their own reasons for joining IDPA...or any shooting sport for that matter.

Regarding your ability forgo any IPSC training...because of your...ahem...IDPA expertise...you clearly don;t understand what a BB is. It is not a safety course...it is a course to teach participants the principals and rules of IPSC. Period...

Your IDPA experience means nothing. No more than IPSC experience helping you understand the rules and regulations of IDPA.

Hey man,

If you read again what I wrote, it does not say that I was the TOP or BEST SHOOTER.
I was talking about competitions. I would never say 'I am the best' because I would find that literally 'silly or childish' and last but not least offensive to the rest of the shooters at Smith Falls, EOSC, because I am not the BEST shooter by any means.
Both organizations have AMAZING and professional shooters.

However, I do come among at the top shooters when it comes to competitions at that is maybe good luck! Never said I win anything.

If you have a hard time reading and comprehending the English language, ask, or ask me privately. I am not from Canada and English is my second lenguage but I know how to read properly and as you can see, I do very good at explaining myself.
So your attempt at trying to embarrassing me makes you look quite foolish.

Since you are from town, I even encourage YOU to discuss this over the phone or even at the range because, seriously, I am not the arsehole you think I am. I would appreciate that more than silly 'internet emoticons', (insert emoticon here).

Well...if anyone gives you a hard time...be sure and remember to tell them your one of the top IDPA shooters and EOSC...and Smiths Falls Laugh2

I'm sure that will set them straight.

I thought the Black badge was holstering and other things...
Any course that talks about trigger finger outside the trigger and holstering process and techniques, it's safety course of some level whether the rules of the game are different or not.

You are taking this thread to a place that it was not intended to go to, I don't know why are you so persistent in doing so.
If you want to educate me and others, you can do so properly.

There is no such thing as a black badge course to join IDPA, it is called 'first shooter orientation" or something like that. Throughout this course, there isn't much about IDPA rules but more holstering, reloading, and although you see some IDPA basics, it focuses on safety most of time, if you want to know the IDPA rules, those are on the website and can be read any time, no need to do a course for that.

Anyway, I have been very specific and I was not trying to offend anyone. My apologies if I did.

Email sent.

How do I get a formal invitation, for restricted transport and all that?

Email Tim, the Section Officer on the Exec.
He is scheduled to be there this Thursday.
IPSC/Action: Tim Lacroix phone – 819-664-5636
e-mail – IPSC_rep_RA@hotmail.ca

I do not shoot IPSC and Tim would not know my CGN persona.

Check the RA Calendar. We also have ISSF on Wednesdays.

Mondays (evenings), parts of Thursdays (evenings) and Saturdays (mornings) are Bullseye shooting from benches
at 20 yds in 10 minute relays. No holsters. All handgun calibers (except .22 Magnums. They dent the backstop steel.)
