Just wondering if anyone has made their own indoor optical training aid? I found a thread on Reddit but never could get it to work. $200 to buy one, unfortunately is not an option right now.

Yep, dry fire can help our trigger control a lot. For me, just the pistol, holster, and put some colored stickers on the wall. Then you can start to practice drawing, target alignment & transition, and trigger control. There is definitely more content on youtube (Tactical Rifleman, Jerry Miculek, etc). I hope it helps! :)

I used my TV. Hooked up my laptop to it and had a photo of my range as the background. Adjusted the image file to get the targets a suitable size. Worked ok, but the resolution wasn't great. You will still need the lens though, just using the reduced size aperture over the objective isn't very effective. I went to an optometrists and managed to buy the appropriate one, but can't remember what the right RX is. The factory blank size of the lens was just small enough to fit in a 56mm butler creek scope cover.

If you go to the idts dryfire systems website, you can buy just the lens for $30.

I just glued it with rtv silicone into a lens cover.
