Industrial machines to reload ammo

Okay... Those with 1050's on steriods and want to make some coin to pay off their machine (or to shoot more). Mine as well make 1000rds for yourself, 1000rds for you... no prob... just leave machine on for another hour. Time to think about driving a white van, parked outside shooting range. Baahahaah

It gets around the liquor laws when having private functions so it may just work with ammo too?

Sounds like a great idea, but yeah... Don't think that would jive. I think, besides giving ammo away, I guess there is no way around it to call it a legit operation. Giving away (or trading) might not be legit either?

Founding co-op members pool in for a few machines and load it ourselves. Then, rent out machine for non-members and charge a nominal fee but only with member operation machine. :D

Well I see I started aood decusion on the topic of ammo factory lol, maybe when i win that 18 mil friday, but its still a nice dream i had, and investers would be the workforce, no salery to pay. but than again which place would allow it, even small towns with high unemplyment seem to be refusing bussness to start up as iy will stop the town from being a tourest area /retirement, i know lindsay could use the jobs big time

Let's do the math on those.

Your costs:

Powder ($30x240 lbs) = $7200
Primers: ($35 x 80K) = $2800
Brass: (.10 x 80K) = $8000
Bullets: ($100 x 80K) = $8000

Total of $26,000 in expenses.


I think the profit margin on this is smaller than you'd think....

Your supplies prices are essentially retail - they should be half that (or more) for a manufacturer. Having a licence to produce ammo would be like a licence to print money.
 
It's too bad we can't legally sell reloaded ammo made in our basements or garages (or even shed). I wouldn't mind pumping a few extra thousand rounds to sell. :)
 
We need to form co-ops in each town. :)

I plan to reload 9mm, and 44 mag for the time being. I do plan on casting my own bullets for 44mag...

.223 is next. I didn't know until yesterday that people load around 20gr for .223. That means I need to buy 3lbs of powder for 1000rds. Need to buy a barrel of powder. Spend more $$$ to save $$$. Doh!
 
Couple of other things come to mind, you're estimate does not have packaging in it, can't sell ammo in Canada in bags has to be boxed in trays. Also as .223 is the center of attention here, would have to say any machine that is sizing brass while loading would be way to slow, Scharch makes an auto reamer that would prep the brass and make the loading operation run much faster, also get rid of those pesky crimps in the primer pockets. Those crimps will crash an automatic machine or at very least flatten the primer out so you cant sell it.
Also the choke point for supplies would be primers with the US at war and every one else hoarding them you would be lucky get the operation of the ground. Even if you could buy them in bulk (millions) where would they be stored and how would you transport them. Powder could be bought by the drum bullets would be hard to get, perhaps you could set up to make bullets as well.,...
 
In years past, friends of mine formed a loose co-op. They were avid PPC shooters who could make do with one standard load. It worked for a while, but the system had flaws.

Like any group effort, people seem to have a wide variety of time frames with regards to paying and recieving and loading ammo.

I've offered a few friends access to my equipment, but prior to allowing anyone free reign at my bench, they'd need to have me over thier shoulder.
 
There is a guy in BC that sells reloaded ammo and reloading components out of his garage i think his only stip is it has to be done manually got to at least pull the lever he runs 4 1050's i think

And it legit licences and all!!!!!!

I expect if done above board, it could be similar to the brew your own wine stores. They insist that you add the yeast, but get to use thier equipment and learn from thier experience.

You got to his house and buy 50rnds of ammo just like at the gun store
he does all the work you just buy the end product
like combat masters in alberta
