Hi guys
Who sells inert or fake grenades?
I need one for a shoot I'm putting on in August.
One where the pin can still be pulled out (but no bang of course)

Cheers
Richard

The last time i was in DelSelins in Vernon, i think they had a couple behind the glass. they are on the board now. might be worth a try.

What are the prices for inert grenades?

The run of the mill US style grenade will run you from $15 to $35 these days. For the older stuff, like the mills bomb 36M grenade, they have fallen into the realm of the collectables, and will run from a minimum of $125 to a high of about $225. And they usually don't last long at the lower end of that price scale either.

One thing that has hurt the businesses that deal in these items is the Canada Post ban on mailing inert and replica ordnance like grenades and artillery shells...even wood or resin copies. While they won't normally be discovered in domestic mail, certainly any ordered from the US or elsewhere, and placed in the mail, have a low rate of successful delivery.

Crown surplus in Calgary still had some of the US style dummy grenades last year when I was there. Otherwise, collectors source has some, but they are more the collectable stuff, which one would be hesitant about tossing around.

Hmmmm
Perhaps I'll have to make my own.
I'm not entirely sure what a grenade looks like exactly but I'm sure the www can help out there. Perhaps use a safety pin or a trailer hitch pin....

I'll work on it

Thanks guys

edit...pm
Those dummy cap grenades can be found at dollar stores, perhaps a modified one filled with something heavy could make the body?

I can also vouch for the quality of Bob's work wrt the dummy mills bombs he made. They would fool a collector at 2 feet away. They ran about $55 or so, so they weren't exactly cheap....just a lot cheaper than the real thing.

Rob

I've seen him with them at gun shows in Southern Ontario...he lives here now. The dummy grenades do look great.

Here is some of Bob's work...... (by showing this I hope to get a commission cheque :D )

Bringing this old thread back because I have a related question.
I was in the Army Navy Store in Halifax, and one of the employees told a customer that all inert grenades are now prohibited. So has anything changed? Or is the employee wrong?
