sticker shock at the gunshop. bought some rounds a few months ago - $7.95 per 20. Few weeks ago - $9.95 for 20. Yesterday $11.95 for 20. Time to look at reloading them.
I am in the GTA - are there any local manufacturers around that make decent 223 bullets for a reasonable price? I have been collecting my brass so I have lots of those.
Thanks

I assume your are looking for loaded rounds, not projectiles. I have used the Wolf (Russian) in the past, with good results. Not match grade, but fairly cheap. I haven't priced them lately, nor do I know if they are available in Canada. Steel cased, berdan primed-non reloadable. Here in the states, most every type of ammo or components has taken a huge jump in price. Not sure if it is the Chinese blowing away the commodity market, our new Obamanation or a combination of the two. 'Inexpensive' is taking on a whole new meaning. Good luck!

Should have been clearer I suppose - nope looking for projectiles to start reloading. Looked at BDX - that seems like a reasonable price - thanks very much.

Sorry about that, I misunderstood. Remington 55 PSP's are my favorite, but I'm sure they are not inexpensive. They do shoot verrrry well though! (sub moa in a good bolt gun, with the right twist) Look for something in bulk, pulled military FMJ's will probably be the cheapest, but don't expect gilt edge accuracy. Hope this helps.

BDX out of stock on 224 FMJ's since last year. Supposedly more coming if they can get exported. Montana Gold is way behind on production and having problems filling orders south of the 49th so nothing crossing the border so far. Bummer:mad:....

Try Mysticplayer. He is a CGN dealer and I just bought a lot of 62 gr ARMSCOR from him. He still might have some in stock but it is going fast. He also has Hornady 55 gr FMJBT inbound. He is excellent to deal with and has a thread in the EE under reloading.:)

Bear in mind with the panic in the US over "Obamination" and our dollar the price of reloading components has increased. Reloading components are more difficult to find right now.

Welcome to the world of reloading. It is very satisfying shooting your own ammo. Even more satisfying hunting with your own ammo!!!

You will need powder and Higginson Powders sells a great powder for cheap called WC735 which works great in .223. I have used it with great success in .308 and plan on using it in .303 British. A friend of mine has used it in .30-06 with great success as well.

Good luck!!!

Only person I know that has stock of FMJ is mysticplayer... I have been waiting 8 months from hornady... Armscor said they might be able to squeak a 1/4 million for me in the first quarter of 2010...

Of course they will be able to. By then, the buying frenzy will be over and we might be the only market still able to buy.

But by then, who knows what we will be able to import?????

See it, like it, buy it....
