Inexpensive 22LR pistol reccomendations?

I picked up a 22/45 a couple years ago and it is a great pistol for the money and it comes with a base if you want to mount an optic.

There is a lot of good 22's Ruger is top on my list because i have one. and didn't break the bank to buy it I have gone through a lot of Semi 22 pistol. If you like the tactical look that is a different gun. For function and budget. High Standard made great 22 pistol. They where great target guns. SW 2206 is a nice piece to, had one and sold it. Big regreat. That gun would jam with HV ammo. Eat all the Walmart #### all day. find what fits you and try different ammo. You will be happy. i bought many years a go a 22 revolver. It was a Iver Johnsons to load it you had to take the cyl out and load the gun. LOL I wish I still had it because it was a old gun. i have a Vostock Margolin great target gun. Like I said there are a lot of old 22's pistol that are great guns. Good Luck

ive got a nice little collection of 22's

browning buckmark, ruger 22/45 Lite, M&P 22, SIG/GSG 1911-22, ruger sp101-22, couple herbert schmidts, couple S&W 422's
so ive got a couple to dabble with.

but when i want accuracy and dependability i take out the browning buckmark.
if i want to just blast and have fun the ruger 22/45 or the GSG 1911-11 or the M&P22 probably in that order too.

price and how hard they are to clean and reliability all in thats how id rate them.

you just cant go wrong with a Buckmark.

Inexpensive but reliable. Accuracy is nice but going BANG every time is most important. Thoughts?

Define inexpensive?

I'd obviously pimp the Grand Power K22S or K22 X-Trim, but neither is cheap. Both are affordable. ;)

If you will be using this for a season and don't care about it's long term reliability, one of the cheaper .22lr's will do fine.
If you want a gun to last, raise your sights a little and go for steel slides.

If I can't talk you into the GP, at least take a hard look at the Ruger or Browning.

Before you consider one of the zinc alloy copies, research how they fail.

I love the Browning Buckmark so much that I had to have two of them. Both are stainless, one a slab side, the other a bull barrel. They are ugly as hell, but shoot anything I feed them.

"If you want to be happy the rest of your life marry an ugly wife" - This saying couldn't be more true than when marrying the Buckmark.

Ruger MkII 5.5" bull barrel
Ruger 22/45 in 4.5 slab side or 5.5" bull barrel
GSG 1911 .22 lr

Have all of the above & happy with all.

Hey folks!
Lots of great and repetitive ideas put forth here.

I notice no-one mentioned that newer cute little Browning 22 rimfire 3/4s scale 1911 copy?
Just curious here....

anyone???

Too small too expensive but nicely finished.. Buckmark URX is what my wife uses and loves, she has small hands.. Great accurate and dependable shooter.

No-one ever mentions the Ruger Mk.1.

Too bad, they're great pistols, with these 3 "issues": slide doesn't stay open on an empty mag, heel release for the mag, and some early mags will only take 9 rounds.

There's a fix for the slide issue: a longer mag follower (see the Ruger Forum for details), and later mags will hold 10 rounds. I never found the heel release to be an issue.

I'm another proponent for the Browning Buck Mark. I took my new to me Camper URX Stainless to the range yesterday and it ate 250+ rounds of cheap bulk .22lr (Remington Thunderbolts and Winchester 555 hollowpoints) with only one jam (Winchester)....I did have a couple of FTF (Remingtons) but I'd blame that more on the ammo than the gun.
