Sorry if this question has been asked before but....

I am looking for an inexpensive scope for a rimfire rifle. I am planning on
a bushnell banner 4-12x40 but was also looking into the tasco varmint
series. Are these clearer than the banners? A lot of my shooting may be in low light areas and possibly in the barn.

Levi weight is not such a problem it will be mounted on a little anschutz single shot. I had a banner years ago but dont know anything about the new tasco.
I also had a japan tasco 2-7 A/O which was super clear but sold it for some reason. now i cant find another one.

I have had a 4X tasco on my ruger 77/22 for at least 15 years and have never had any problem with it. I paid $80 bucks for it. Can't begin to count the rounds through that rifle that hit exactly where I'm aiming. Can't say enough about that scope. I don't know if I'd put one on a hunting rifle but it sure works great on the .22.

I have both Bushnell Sportsman and Tasco World Class in 3x9 40mm. Both are bright and clear. The Tasco has more of a critical eye relief and shorter eye relief. The Tasco is fine for a .22 but too close for comfort with my .30-06.

I would go with the banner. Although, there are deals to be had in the EE, on better quality used ones.

I'd go with a Bushnell legend over some of the 3200's--fully multi-coated optics vs Fully or multi-coated optics. as far as a banner- don't waiste your money.

Banner

I would go with the Banner over the Tasco, EE however does have some great deals. I just picked up a B&L 3000 3-9X50 for $110 shipped. Great scopes for the money. The only Tasco I currently have is a Super Sniper and Tasco does not even make them.

There is a 3-9 x36 with AO in the sportsman series that I quite like for a rimfire, some folks don't like it because it only comes in a glossy black version, but for $83.00 it is a tough one to beat, excellent value IMHO. FS
