Hey,

i got a new vanguard s2 in 270 win and wanted to use the talley lightweights for it, but my current scope's eye relief is too short and the talleys dont allow for enough space to move the scope back far enough. So i think i need a 1 piece mount.

What is a good inexpensive mount for weatherby vanguard long action? i want one thats sturdy and wont loose zero. what works out there?

thanks

EGW makes a decent aluminum Weaver base, Talley does make an extension set so you can mount the scope back a bit further. I've used Rem 700 1 piece rings (like Talley, see below) with success on a 3" eye relief scope. PM me if you want to try them, I have an extra set.

I just sent a one-piece Leupold base for a Rem 700 base to a friend for his Vanguard S2.

Took it out of the package, and tried it on an S2 300 Mag I have here, to make sure it fit before I mailed it. It does, perfectly!

Thanks guys, but I don't see how the Leopold std mounts would allow me to move the scope back farther to help with the short 3" eye relief.

@Hitzy I would like to try them, but I don't understand from the pic how they extend the scope back at all.

They are similar to extension rings, you would buy extension rings for the Leopold base as well if you didn't have enough mounting length. The rings are mounted facing the rear to move the scope back a bit more.

This is a weaver extension ring I use on Mauser rifles that have looong distance between bases, like the Howa/Vanguard's.

Weaver base #'s........

Weaver 36 (48036) for the rear base.

Weaver 35 (48035) for the front base.

Weaver 40A (48040) is used as a Front Extension.

Yes Rem 700 one piece mt. fits the 1500 series Vangard ,Mossberg,S+W and Howa with the correct action length taken into consideration.............Harold
