Influx of M1 Garands ?

Where are all these M1's that magically appeared in dealer ads coming from ?
Did the Korean surplus make it to North America ?

I have been searching for this answer myself. Tradex had 20 or so very nice M1's. I balked at the price and by the time I made up my mind to buy one they were all gone.
I did manage to buy one at the same price though on EE from weimajack.
It's a July 1944 receiver with a June 1944 barrel. The barrel is very nice. All parts are SA except for the op rod. The stock has the circle P and a DOD acceptance stamp. Obviously been overhauled at some point.
I would love to know where it came from.

I am a newbie to the gun world but am waiting for my first gun to be an M1. I have been looking around in my small south western corner of Ontario for a couple years and seem to keep coming up short. Where do you guys get the information that there was m1's inbound to Canada? I seem to get a run around by all the places in my area.

I guess there are many good surplus M1's available for $1000 or so.
I just can't seem to find a single one!

I got mine from a local estate sale in Alberta, just keep looking at gun auctions in your area. None at local shops or the shows.
