Info about Winchester .308 180gr. S.T. bullets

Just received two boxes of these. I'm guessing they're from the 70's early 80's.

Looked on the web and can find no info about them.

White box says: Winchester Western .30 Caliber .308dia. 180gr. S.T.
Can anyone tell me anything about them? Were they discontinued for any particular reason?
Wound characteristics?

Edit to add: O.K. it seems these are the old Silvertips, not to be confused with the newer Ballistic Silvertips.
Any opinions on these?

Back in the day Winchester advertised them as their go to bullet for hunting elk and moose or even grizzly bears, they were supposedly designed for deeper penetration then the Power Points. I have never shot anything with them personally other then paper and cans! Started reloading in the early 80`s and never looked back.

i still have several boxes of old siver tips in 308 in 150 and 200 grn and 30 06 180 grn. they have a aluminum cap on the bullet tip to insure penitration. they are ok acuracy wise in my 308 and very good in my 30 06. i would feel comfortable hunting with them.

At the time they were a great game bullet, wound channels were large and the moose didn't go far. They were accurate enough for hunting, but todays hunting bullets are a bit more accurate.
Would I use them today ,yes, if they were available.
