buying a colt 1849 31 pocket revolver ser. 19723. it looks all original with matching numbers so went to letter it. when I went into the colt serial # site it claims this pistol is a 36 cal made in 1851. is this a typo on the colt site? I cant find anywhere that shows 36 cal were built at this time period in this configuration. please feel free to weigh in on this. any help is appreciated. it is definitely 31 cal. do I have a fluke or could this have been faked
 
disregard. turns out all the 1849 colt pocket 31 cals. are listed as 36 cal. not sure why. I thought the colt serial # site would be more accurate than that. makes you wonder how accurate those expensive letters really are
