info M305 shorty from Canada Ammo

So far the ones that have passed across my bench have had no issues that could not be remedied with some tweakin and tunin.

I also find the 18.5" barrels to be quite a bit thicker ahead of the oprod guide to muzzle. This is GOOD as thicker means reduced whip. This may be why some guys I've talked to have been ranting about the accuracy they are getting.

Diemaco, Sorry I misunderstood what you meant.

I just wanted to make it clearer that there is more than one reason why these front sights can be misaligned. Sometimes just replacing the flash hider solves the problem, other times the barrel needs to be indexed, and sometimes employing both methods is the best answer.

It is more of an aesthetic concern than a real problem anyway, and these rifles are a steal at the current selling price. Have fun with yours!

Ya I sent it back. CanAmmo was really good about exchanging it too. No hassles there.

They did say it was quite common. I wouldnt have cared too much if the defect was on a replaceable part but since it was on the receiver and not fixable I was a little bothered by it.

heya djankle

how long of a turn around till you got your rifle back?

and did you have to notify the CFC that you were sending it back to the retailer..

or did you just mail the package with the canam supplied shippin label?

thanks man

I'm anticipating about a 3 week turnaround. CanAm supplied me with a shipping label.

thanks for the info

I packed mine up last monday, and just slapped the shipping lable on.

I hope i didn't have to transfer/register it to them before i sent/send it :yingyang:

three weeks without that *pinnngggg* ...rats

A bit of an update for the OP. Finally shot my shorty today. I got it roughly sighted in on paper and went at the gongs with it. it went somethig like this:

PING! PING! PING! PING! MISS! reload MISS! MISS! MISS! MISS! MISS!

Not sure what was going on so I shot another group on paper, only to discover that it was shooting 12" low. Took one look at the sight drum and it had turned on me quite a bit. I found out that it would turn a little bit every couple of shots so I put the gun away for the day.

Looks like I'll have to pick up a NM or garand sight.

Finally tried out my Canam rifle this weekend. No issues except for the op rod separating from the bolt once. After I put it back together it worked fine. Only problem is my mags only take 5 rds haha. Bumpfiring is less than spectacular when you can only do it for one second at a time!
