Hi All

I may have the chance to pick up a Franchi semi-auto 12g with 2 barrels.
The owner is an older gentleman who is getting out of shooting.
He bought it around 25-30 years ago, it is used but not abused, and is apparently in quite good condition.
I don't know the model yet(finding out in a day or two) but based on what I do know it looks like it'll probably be a Franchi AL-48.
I'll post more once I get the rest of the info, but if it does happen to be an AL-48 what would a ballpark value be? Assuming VG+ condition
I've looked around but no solid info on value has been found except for new ones.

Franchi makes an honorable product, but in no way compares to
an A-5.
The A-5 is the work horse of semi's and I would rather spend my
money on these instead.

I'll put a 48AL up against an A5 any day of the week. As an owner of both, i can say the Franchi is more then an honourable gun. I have a 73 48AL with over 50,000 problem free rounds through it, and the action, chamber and barrel are tight as new. The polished finish is still like a mirror. This gun has only seen action in the field and in the worst and harshest of conditions, yet it will fire anything you put through it without a hiccup.

The value, depending on age, in VG conditon will be around $600-$800 bucks tops. If its an older gun like mine $400-600 would be fair

I've owned a 48AL. They're light and shoot well and the loading system is remarkably reliable. And two barrels sounds tempting.

The thing to watch out for is stock - the older stock parts are unobtainium. The forearm cracks easily and replacements aren't easy to find. The older butt (you can tell if there's a raised rim around the stock where it fits up against the receiver) basically can't be found.

See www.gun-parts.com/franchi/ for more info and photos.
