Hi
I see Browning makes a 40 s&w High Power. Can anyone tell me anything about them? Also who sells them? I don't remember ever seeing a used one for sale. Are they very popular or what? Any info on this sublect would be much appreciated.

Thanks Graydog

They are around... not many of them... The appeal seems to have faded on these reliable old war horses.....

Just need to look.. As far as I know they are still made.

A little on the pricey side as I recall... in the $1000 range. But they are great guns... better than a CZ (in my opinion).

I think that the .40 version has been recently discontinued. It isn't listed on the Browning or FN Herstal websites.

I think a number of these were recently brought in as new old stock, possibly from some sort of contract overrun. I bought mine in 2010 and the documentation indicates 2003 manufacture. I modified mine with Herrett's grips and Heinie sights.

If you reload for them, I recommend a case gauge. Cases that are excessively oversize near the base (typically from loose Glock chambers) can cause nosedive stoppages. These rounds can drop into the chamber, but they have just enough taper to cause a misfeed. The EGW undersize sizing die made by Lee substantially cuts down the number of rounds that won't drop all the way into the gauge.
