Info needed

Used to shoot a lot of Gevelot .22lr as a kid ..........made in France.

Had about 20 or so in 30-30 that I got "once fired" at a gun show many years ago.....no complaints...got just as many reloadings with it as any thing else....and like every thing else.....after about 10 - 15 reloadings started getting case neck splits and turfed them all.......

Have you found a new source or have you come across a 25+ year old stash?

It was OK brass. It was no worse than anything of the time.

Gevelot brass is usually very heavy (smaller internal capacity) and requires careful load work up--don't just start loading your regular load in it. On the up side if you are loading reasonable loads the brass lasts a long time.

Ditto on the "heavier than standard" comment. I have some 8x57 Gevelot brass, and it weighs 35 grains more than does Winchester brass. Most loads I use in the Winchester brass will not even fit in the Gevelot stuff. Requires working up different loads than the other makes, but is good brass in it's own right. Regards, Eagleye.

Gevelot

Hey! where is that source of Gevelot ammo?
I need some good brass in 8x57JS. I had a lot of Prvy Partizn cases but one of my friends needed it and I gave him.
Now, I'm thinking of getting some rifles in 8x57 but converting 30-06 brass is an alternative I want to consider as last resort.
PP.

Pervers, if RP brass is good enough for you, Wholesale sports in Calgary has about 49 bags of 50+/-. I just called tonight and am going in tomorrow to get some. If you prefer W-W, Corlanes in B.C. may be worth a try, he got me 7x57 W-W.

Otherwise, maybe GrafandSons?
