I’m thinking of getting into 10m Air Rifle. Hence, since I’m a newb and have many questions etc. Thus I came here speaking guidance.

So, what books would you recommend, equipment (ie Creedmoor shooting jacket vs Anschutz). Best place to get a rifle, stand etc
Andrew

Andrew,
There are five suppliers of precision air rifles in Canada that I know of,

Harvey at Airgunsplus in Saskatchewan selling Walther, Hammerli and Steyr
Jocelyn at Cibles Canada Target in Quebec selling Feinwerkbau
John at Western Marksman in BC selling Pardini
Brad at Nordic Marksman in Nova Scotia selling Anschutz
Targetshootingproducts which is a division of North Silva selling Walther, Hammerli and Anschutz

I have purchased stuff from all of them and they are all great to deal with.

Not sure where you are in Alberta but if you reach out to the Calgary Rifle and Pistol Club they can probably point you in the direction of a club in your area that could help you out. crpc.ca

Equipment choice is a very personal thing and you want to get something that is ISSF compliant so it is worth going to a club and speaking to members to find out what they like and why Before jumping in and purchasing something.
Hope that helps
Glenn

Glenn,
Thank you for your time. I’m also looking for a training book and potentially one that expands on what you need/require. My rifle pref is FWB or Anschutz. But since the 10m air rifle market is slim in Canada I’ll be open to any reasonable rifle

Have you checked with your provincial shooting federation? More often then not, they'll have clinics... and they'd be able to tell you if there's a coach/shooter nearby willing to get you started.

How much $ are you willing to throw at this? And how serious are you about it?
- You're cheapest "serious" option would probably a SSP like a FWB 601 (or one of its variant)
- A PCP will be easier to shoot (No physical effort to pump it), but they're more $
- If you think you might be interested in other air rifle discipline (Like Field Target). You might want have a look at the Steyr LG, as they can easily be switched from sub-500fps to higher power setting.

Want to read? Way of the rifle is pretty good.

Online reference
https://targetshooting.ca/ Patrick is a good guy. He recently updated his website and the rifle stuff kind of disappeared

D you read French? The cadet have a pretty good shooting programs, that cover the basics to get you started

If you haven't done so already, you ought to sign-up on https://www.targettalk(dot)org/
It's probably the biggest (English speaking) forum specific to Olympic shooting events.

By the way, the Creedmoor shooting jacket would not be legal for ISSF match.
- Depending on your size/body shape, there are a few jackets listed on the Alberta Smallbore Rifle Association website
- One thing to keep in mind if buying used. There are two types of jacket (Prone specific and Standing/3P)

Kurt Thune are popular jacket. The Tesro jacket seems to be a good value.

If you are feeling bored and would like to see some 10M shooters in action :)

To glen,
Ironically as I was buying the book you suggested, it was scooped from me as I was buying it from eBay LOL. Thus, I bought the 2 remaining books offered by Nordic Marksman. Big issue is that I have enough cash saved to buy the ANSCHUTZ 9015 PRECISE listed by NM. My only question is it too much of a rifle, am I dedicated enough for this quality of rifle etc.

However gentlemen and ladies, keep the suggestions coming and a very heart felt thank you from me.

Nothing wrong with with a 9015, just like there's nothing wrong with a Walther/Tesro/Pardini/Steyr/FWB... Heck, any of the club gun are good enough to take you to the podium, if you do your part.

Personally, to get started (until you've mastered your position and shooting routine) I would have suggested something like a Feinwerkbau 800 Universal / Tesro RS100 Basic/ Walther LG400 universal/Anschutz 9015 club

The ANSCHUTZ 9015 PRECISE is one spiffy piece of equipment... but with some many adjustment possible, it would be too easy to spend more time tinkering with the stock than actually practicing your position.

You're in Alberta? Have you gotten in touch with Susan Eymann?
- She'd probably be your best bet to get your started.

I’d love a FWB800 universal, now to price one out and in stock. A side note I was into precision small bore as a teenager. But was convinced that shooting wasn’t fun anymore by the Army LOL
I already have a FWB 600 I believe, but it’s a spring vs pcp

The FWB 60x rifles are SSP, the 300 is a springer
You could take a 600 to the national and notbe under gunned. But at the end of a match, you'd be a little more tired. Another advantage of the 600, you don't have to worry about cylinder being expired, or having a mean to fill them.

If you don't have access to a coach, a SCATT is nice to have.

Did I say you haveto be a little masochist to shoot 10M air rifle ;-)

Nothing wrong with being a little wacky :p

Lets compare shooting 10M air pistol VS 10M air rifle

- The pistol shooter goes somewhere, he grabs a a case and is good too go. If he's really keen, he'll also have a pair a shooting shoes to carry along. You can easily go to a match riding your motorcycle... or car-pool with 4 other pistol shooters

- The rifle shooter, you'll need a rile case and a large duffle. A motivated guy could use a motorcycle (with a sidecar), forget about owning a sub-compact car

*-*-*-*-

You want to shoot a few targets before supper?
- The air pistol guy open his case, puts one his shooting glass... and his good to go
hqdefault.jpg

- The air rifle shooter... You'll need an extra 15 minutes to put your samurai suit on

While shooting, your concentration goes down while shooting AP. You'll get a 8. You jerk the trigger, you'll get a 5...

The rifle guy, you lose focus... that will be a 4... You jerk the trigger, that would be a miss...

On a more serious note. I enjoy shooting both  But it's "easier" to be competitive with air pistol

If you like to keep stats... I've like TargetScan ISSF Pistol & Rifle (by Deep Scoring Ltd, on Android)

True the air pistol has piqued my interest, but when your hands are so mangled from life and can’t fit into a xtra large hand grip it makes life difficult, the inner portion of my grip requires a small to medium grip. Life sucks, then you get into a sport you can’t stop doing

I had similar thought last year. I knew/know nothing whatsoever about it. Wanted "something" to set up in my shop for "those times" that I just needed to shoot something! From CGN EE found a Daisy Avanti 853C which is apparently the rifle used by the Canadian Cadets. Good enough for me, so far. Found some of their manuals on-line. Also bought a small box of spare parts for it - do not know if needed or not. Found great evaluation and "tuning" sequence for that rifle on Internet. Bought a spring loaded "pellet catcher" and big pile of 10M targets from Cibles. Seems to all work.

I did the same during the first wave of Covid last spring. The Gun Dealer had the 953C on sale for half price, with sights, sling, etc.
They're not bad, but not up to the same level as an FWB, for example.
The trigger is awful out of the box, I spent a few days getting that to a livable state.
As you said, the internet has some good info on that particular rifle.
