Info on Browning BBR

A friend just pi ked up his first rifle, a Browning BBR in 7mm rem mag.
The rifle is in around 95% condition. It came with 2 boxes of 175gr core-locts, a sling, case, triggerlock, and has a old 3-9 redfield wideview on it. He plans to change the scope to a Leupold, or Nikon.
How does this rifle compare to the A-bolt? What would have been a reasonable price to pay for this setup?

Where was it made, Belgium or Japan?

Japan, serial# dates it as made in 1979. Looks a lot like an older Weatherby.

BBR is a good rifle, well built, just heavy. Value? $500-600 or so, depending on condition.- dan

Yes I agree I have one and yes it is heavy but has been vey reliable and accurate and would take it over an A bolt but not sure about the x bolt

I bought a new one in 84. Was pleasure to shoot,even though it was in 338WM. Should be worth around $500.

I would take a BBR over any A-Bolt or X-Bolt.

I had a BBR in 7mm-08 but now have a couple A-Bolt composite stalkers. Personally, I prefer the A-bolt's.
