Going to be de sporterising some enfields. Im clueless about it all so im just looking for a jump start from the communities vast ocean of knowledge.

Trying to get them back to war loadouts so to say.

Just curious from the pics what are the obvious things that need to be redone/replaced/added. The parts i need, the prices, and any links to the parts for purchase that i need, of course would be massively helpful.

Also how much do you figure of the metal is original on these rifles?

I appreciate any help or wisdom from the many worn hands and minds who have done de-sporterising.

Sorry about the abundance of pics, wanted to make sure most of it was covered.

Thank you again very much.

Pics:

First one is a No1 Mk3 from what I see on it. Parker hale .303 conversion.

all i see is the p-14, definitely going to need an entire new stock set, complete with the band, also i believe theres a metal nose cap piece that should be on there somwhere, oh and both sling swivels too.

Can't see the no1 mk3 pics. If it's a Parker hale, you probably will have to leave as is. Parker hake sporters are collectable in their own right and are worth a lot more then just a regular Sporter.
As for the p14, looks like it's in good shape but you need a new stock. P14 stocks seem like they're impossible to find just from all of the posts I've seen online.

The no1 mk3 isn't a restore candidate, cut barrel, missing charger bridge, rear dovetail sight.

If the p14 is matching could be a good restore.

Alright getting some good info already, thanks guys. Parker hales not saveable hey? That makes me sad lol, better than the .22's I was going to get in the trade though. Oh well still a nice rifle. Guess i can look for a original if I love it. Worth more as in like 250-300ish at this time?

The p14 is matching i believe, might not be, either way the thing im trading for it i received without paying for (gift) so any money i put in is the first dollar im putting into it. That being said to restore it to its former glory with say 100$ or something isnt a big deal to me. Yeah the stocks definately do seem impossible to get a hold of.. thats whats really throwing me off the path of looking for an original and looking post war now... If anyone does know where a p14 stock is, thats a enormous help.

@ Flyer27, can you name the metal parts i need specifically so i can look them up and try to purcahse them? Thank you bud.

I can get a boyds stock in walnut with inlets for the p14 (fits a p17 to) for around 160ish (its obviously commercially built to be a lot like the original). You think thats worth it or to hunt for an original still instead. If i get the boyds, wat metal parts/other parts do i need to put that puppy on the p14.

Again I appreciate all you guys are doing to help me out.

For the p14 you'll need

Stock
Front handgaurd
Rear handgaurd
Handgaurd retaining band
Middle barrel band with screw and swivel
Rear buttstock swivel
Front barrel nosecap
Front barrel nosecap screw
Nosecap swivel and screw

If your p14 is matching the barrel, receiver, bolt and rear sight should match.

Too make some money you might be able to sell the sporter stock for 20-30 dollars

Awesome. Would p17 parts work on the p14? Im finding stuff all over the states but im assuming only some are cross compatible. If i get a stock for it, says wood only the one i found, im guessing this means i need the parts added to it that are listed above is all (handguards n metal parts n such)

The PH is a creature all on it's own - definitely doesn't fall into the category of a Bubba and not something that you should consider messing with. There's actually not that much difference in the value of a PH Sporter in nice shape and a restocked non-matching milsurp. It would be like "fixing" an EAL.

Yes, leave that top rifle alone. It started off as a 1911 SMLE (I weep! Verily, I weep!) but it has been chopped much, much too far to be restorable for under about 3 times hat it will be worth. That's the bad part. The good part is that the work was done by a good shop, the barrel was definitely good or new when it hit the market, barrels on these will last a couple of lifetimes AND it could be worth just about the price of a new Savage exactly as-is.

MOST small parts will interchange between the M-1917 and the P-'14 rifles. The major difference was the ammunition, the <-1917 being a .30-'06. There ARE M-1917 stocks available in the US. Numrich had some and I believe that Sarco has some. The problem is getting them across the barbed-wire and tank-traps and away from the drones that Obama has where we used to have "the world's longest undefended border". There WAS a Canadian WW2 mod of serving P-'14s to us the M-1917 stocks which still were available, left over from War One. You HAVE a list of parts you will require. Get the parts and then come back on here and someone will walk you through the process. By the way, many of these were sloppily-fitted with woodwork, so a glass-bedding job often is necessary to get the critter and you shooting in the same area.

Good luck.

Your Parker Hale: it's a really nice, commercial, higher end model! Don't fool around with it, you'll only bring its value down.

The P14: a nice project, ahd the end result should please you.

Lou

As if you need one more comment on the PH. Leave it. It is not realy a milsurp and is a collectable piece on it's own. They were built from surplus stock parts and left Parker Hale as a new rifle. As mentioned above, it will last several lifetimes.
The P14. I think I got the last 2 full wood stocks from Tradex last year and haven't seen any anywhere since. Tough to find but the fun is in the chase. Metal parts are very easy to find.

Ill leave the parker hale as she is. Looks like a really well done job on it so I can appreciate that, and as you have all said its not worth my time or effort to change it up, better to just buy a full one. Thats still good news to me as its not just another bubba and makes sense why the craftsmanship is a step above the typical. I like hearing that i can pass it on confidently as well.

Yeah it seems impossible to find stocks unless its in the US, and not knowing anyone in the lower mainland of bc with a import license makes it quite difficult to acquire those pieces.

Seriously though thanks you guys, im really getting a huge head start on this p14 by finding all these parts online through your help, my only concern is shipping them up here without issues.

Wood is easy to get from the States. It is one of the parts that most people will export to Canada. It just seems like nobody has any.

That P14 has been bead blasted and blued recently. I would look for one with original finish if you want to restore one. Not hard to find even now.

How do i add photos to a forum? I have a Parker Hale and an Enfield .303 that i would like to find more info on, But im new here and have no idea how to add the photos...........
