Does anyone know anything about a gunmaker
J.H. Linington, New Port, I.W. ?
It is a hammerless, boxlock, S/S, 12ga. shotgun. It has a beautiful Damascus pattern but I think it has fluid steel barrels.
Any information would be appreciated as I can't find anything in any of my books.

There was a J. H. Linington living in Newport, Isle of Wight circa 1940. I do not know if he was a maker or a retailer.

A picture would useful. Companies such as Webley & Scott would sell boxlocks in various states of completion to provincial "makers" who would finish the gun and sell it under their own name. Then again, some of the provincial makers made their own, complete (and very good) guns.

The barrels sound intriguing - please tell us more.
