My Father in Lawg gave me a 6.5x55 rifle to use. Its my first centre fire rifle and I plan to reload for it.

I'd like to know a bit more about it (he just knows it shoots).

Markings on the gun say:

Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag
19?1 (part of the 9 and the third digit are gone from the base tapping)
There is a 6 or 9 on top base of the barrel
The bolt safty has '183' stamped on it
The bolt handle end has 310 stamped on it
It has a serial number stamped and no open sights.

I read a bit about them in a search of the reloading section. But I want to know if this model can handle a hotter load with a lighter grain (like 100gr) for some preditor hunting.

my swede does not like the lighter bullets, 120gr would be the smallest i would use, i used imr4064 in the past with great success. Reloader22 and varget work very well to.
Does the number on the bolt handle match the last 3 numbers of the serial number? If not i would have it checked out buy a gunsmith

Yup, the serial matches. Hmmm, I wouldn't have thought the gun was that old. Its in pretty good condition (could use a newer/better scope though).

Thanks for the info.
