I put out a wanted add for a hunting rifle and found a winchester model 70 from 1981. It has a beautiful walnut stock and the metal is in great shape. It's not what I was looking for but man, it's hard to pass.

Anything I should know about the ones made in 1981?

Thanks

They are a push feed rifle (nothing wrong with that) that are less desirable and hence less valuable than the CRF model 70's. My brother has an 80's vintage featherweight in 7x57 that is a very nice rifle that shoots well and is well made. If you like it get it it should be a good gun if the price is right.

I have a featherweight in 30-06 from the 80s and it shoots nice small groups using 165gr handloads. Price depends on condition, I would not sell mine, but if I were so inclined the price would not drop below 550.
