Looking for info re norinco's m-93 .22lr reliability, durability, and the common problems ? good or bad all is appreciated .
 
I have fired only one M-93. I thought it was a nice little plinker. It was usefully accurate, and reliable.
There have been reports of other M-93s having serious reliability problems. It would seem that these pistols, like many other Norinco products, are inconsistant, with QC problems.
If you are buying a new one, Marstar's warranty would be a good reason to buy from them.
 
I agree. You hear lots of stories about folks getting lemons. I bought one off this board and it had light strikes and went into full auto mode when it did fire. It took a bit of tinkering but I was able to fix it. Now its a very reliable and accurate little plinker. If you can get one that works, I think they are a steal for the money.
 
I bought one from Marstar (Before Armco had any) Definately recommend the Armco route.

Mine came from Marstar completely stained with what appeared to be blood. The whole gun itself, as well as the styrofoam box it was in was covered in dried blood...it was quite disgusting. After cleaning the thing off, I took it out and was happy with it. Nothing special by any means, and I bought it more or less as a 'tester' from Marstar before I bought anything worth more from them. I've had no issues with mine, but I only shot it once and put it away.... Good plinker I guess, but the sights are pretty basic
 
Blood? Sure it wasn't cosmoline?

Anyway, I bought my M-93 from a disgruntled CGN member who purchased it from Lever Arms in Vancouver. It jammed for him repeatedly and was very picky about ammo. So I got it for $75 - it ain't perfect, but it's a fun plinker once you find what it likes to eat (in this case, Remington Thunderbolts). If I was starting out in the market for a .22 pistol, I'd probably go for a new/used Ruger Mk. II or III.
 
pontcanna, you beat me to that gun, dam you!!!! :p

I really enjoy my M-93, it gets about 2-300 rds through it every week. Was shooting stingers, Federal and American Eagle yesterday, the Stingers made a nice group. :)

As mentioned by 'pontcanna' that is cosmoline you are refering to not blood. Takes some effort to get it off, but Simple Green works well, for me normal gun cleaner didn't.
Mine looked the same but functions quite well. Snappy loud with Hi-Veloc Remingtons. Quite accurate and no mis-fires or Failures to feed so far.

Management probably shot the worker at the factory because he wasn't working hard enough for his 5 cents per hour. :p
 
That's exactly what I was thinking ;)

I guess it was 'pontcanna' as the others said, but I've seen a lot of dried blood....and it sure looked like it. lol

Was pretty tough to clean it all up. Never had an issue though with the couple hundred rounds I popped out of it.
 
I had a tough time cleaning mine up as well, the cosmoline seemed to almost have stained the finish. Mine has only 500 rounds through it but it seems to shoot well, only 1 soft primer strike. not a big fan of the trigger at all, sometimes it wont reset unless you basically take your finger off it intirely.

anyone know any tricks for cleaning up the trigger?
 
I bought 1 from Marstar 2 months ago, put approx 250 rounds through it...not even 1 misfire yet. I was startled by the packaging as well! It is one of those "you get what you pay for" deals I suppose but honestly...I think it is a great little handgun. Just make sure you don't let the slide spring out...it's a ##### to get back in!!!!! I tinker too much for my own good, lesson learned!
 
I bought one about 2 years ago. I have used it a fair bit. It is very fussy about ammo. Misfeeds a lot on regular velocity 22's. The rear sight fell apart a year ago. I sliced my finger cleaning it as it has numerous sharp edges inside.
On this one I got what I paid for. A cheap gun.
 
I bought one of the Armco-tuned guns...I was shocked at the accuracy for the price I paid. I was shooing toonie-sized groups at 15 yards, and was able to hit a 20lb propane tank every time at 70 yards.

No jams, no misfeeds with 300 rounds through it. Came with 2 mags. Great little gun for $200.

I will repeat myself once more, please do not compare Norinco products imported and sold by other folks out there.
Marstar's QC criteria is much higher than the "run of the mill" production.

If it was blood in the package the pistol would be pitted.

Yes the packaging leaves a bit to be desired.... But how many folks shoot with the styrofoam or the box ?

We have sold thousands of the little pistols, what else is there out there for $149.oo ??

Yeah like I said earlier, I did have trouble with mine when I first got it (bought it used) but after a bit of home gunsmithing, it works like a tank. I took it to the range last saturday and put many different kinds of ammo though it (all the quarter and half boxes I had kicking around including, wildcats, yellowjackets, blazers, superx, vipers, czech stuff, American eagle) and didn't have a single issue with any of them.
I'll second that its fairly accurate too. I should try resting it and shoot a 5 shot group for kicks.... :D
