I don't know much about Enfields but my buddy has a lee enfield ( I believe) P14 marked RE in a circle stamped 303 with 16 and if i recall BDI with a tonnage mark. It has a mauser like action with a side clip to hold the bolt on. This one has a peep sight with a volley ladder with a dovetail front. It feels pretty good to handle and the trigger is sharp and precise with a crisp let go. The stock has been sportered. Any info or ideas on price would be appreciated. Thanks Pete

A "nice" sporter P14 (if there is such a thing) would run around $125 IMHO. It would be worth more to a hunter then a collector, as there are still lots of P14s around in original condition.

I've bought them for as little as $40 in that condition, but todays market $125 sounds right. Condition of the barrel and exterior will reflect on the price.

Well fer sure its NOT a Lee enfield. Made by Remington. (RE) all P14's were made in the U.S. either at Remington, Eddystone (owned by Remington) or Winchester.
Rather a shame it has been "sportyized" as the military version is worth more.
Remington had so many parts left over at the end of the contract, that they produced a civillian version Model 30 in 30-06 until 1940.
The WW1 American version was the M1917, and more american troops were equipped with it than with 1903 springfields.

And after the model 30, they built the 720, still basically a P14/M17, with a few changes. If you don't want it, PM me and I'll buy it, these make great big bore rifles. - dan

But I suspect you allready knew this
They can be rebarreled to just about anything you want (knew a guy years ago in SK who had one in 222, it was his varmint rifle). They aren't cheap to get work done on them, if you can do it yourself it's great, they are control feed and a long enough action to get real rounds in. If you have to farm out the work, you may as well buy a RemWinSavRugTikSak, you'll save money in the long run. - dan

oh and the barrels need to be threaded using square threads, a little different then most rifles.
