I've never seen any sks-m models with detachable ak mags here in Canada. I know they exsist, when I bought my sks-d I received the sks-m manual with the firearm, Norinco scratched out the length of the rifle and put in by hand the length of the d model.
Any info would be appreciated concerning restrictions, or if there is anyone selling one here in canada.

You're in luck, there's one for sale here (www)zefarm.net/productView.php?id=2095&cat_id=2
They are restricted though which wouldn't make it very attractive to most gunowners.

Yeah I know that one

Its what he calls the tanker model but it doesn't have the detachable clip,I'm looking for the model that uses ak mags but thanx for your input!;)

It's another one of those commercial variants, like the paratrooper version, the Chinese never used or issued such SKS rifles.

Go on ebay and you can see an idiot selling "genuine Vietnam era unissued paratrooper bayonets".

Para troopers where more likely to be thrown out of planes with these instead...

Yeah, tanker, paratrooper versions heard that

:bangHead:
I was thinking that if I could find an sks-m ak mag version like on the manual I received on the d version, throw on a tapco t-6 stock, Williams fire sights, a quick detach receiver mount with some sort of red dot scope, and several ak 75 round drums.....those zombies will never catch me!:shotgun: :kickInTheNuts: :sniper:

the "D" stands for detachable or "M" for magazine, as in detachable AK-47 magazine
i thing difference was only the mags release ! first detachable sks prototype was made with a regular mags release(pita when you remove mags, need your two hand) the same technique for converting a fixed magazine SKS to a magazine fed SKS

SKS-M.....I've never even heard of that model......Whats different about it compared to standard SKS's and SKS-D's??
The difference between all other conventional sks's including the d, is that the is 16.5 inches instead of 20.5 inches still being considered a carbine.:dancingbanana:

16" barrel on the M.

16.5'' was a paratrooper !
some type''D'' have 16.5'' also sporter type have 16.5'' too

the type 84 have 16'' barrel '' This is a semi-auto Type 56 carbine which was modified to accept AK-47 magazines. The stock is exactly like one found on standard Type 56 carbines only the magazine well has a steel sleeve and is enlarged accept the larger magazine. Where the charging handle meets the bolt carrier's body, there is a small, round plunger style button that slightly protrudes from the top. Depressing the plunger with the handle all the way back locks the bolt in the rearward position for ease of magazine replacement. The barrel is also shortened to Paratrooper lengths. This is the only 16" SKS barrel I know of to ever see Chinese military use. I've only ever seen one of these and the quality was above average for a Chinese Simonov.''

i'm not sure this was a SKS-M

I believe the gas tube, and piston is also shorter...real hack jobs from what I have read about them.

I should look up what Bubba is in Cantonese. :D
