... DON'T pop the 9mm in the chamber to measure, because the 9mm will fit just fine in the .30 Mauser chamber and appear to fit just right. I've seen some doofus do that with a Tokarev. It held together, the core of the bullet squirted through the jacket and squeezed out the barrel. The jacket stayed smooshed to the chamber and the frame bent a bit...
