Info on Weaver 1 piece rings on K4

That's interesting. Is the scope a one-piece tube? Maybe not, and they slid the rings on the two tube pieces before joining them at the saddle?

There is no visible split in the 1inch tube that I can see.
The steel rings are as thick as any other Weaver ring I have seen so it would be impossible to bend them open far enough to slide sideways over the tube.
The rings are cut on 1 side with two screws to clamp the scope tight.

I have the same kind of thing. Old steel weaver K4. The only thingI could figure is that they where installed before the scope was assembled and disassembly would be required to remove them without damage.

Weaver had these rings at the very beginning of their scope production. The ocular lens housing was unscrewed, and the turrets were removed, the rings slid on, then the turret and ocular replaced. If you look closely, you will see the screws that fasten the turrets to the tube.

That's how their scopes were first mounted. I have had several that were set up like that. If you did it in a very dry room, the scope wouldn't fog up........hopefully.

Thanks for the info.I got the scope at a gun show last year and didn"t realise the rings were 1 piece. The glass is scratched but I will mt it on something that will match it"s age.
