Hey there. Just recently acquired a T. Richards flintlock pistol from my uncle. My late grandmother had purchased it around ten years ago at an auction for $80 dollars. Back then, it was a complete pistol, but since it's gone through damage from fiddling and just general mishandling. The hammer has been broken, and the clamp of the hammer is long gone as well. However, everything is clean and intact. The frizzen and pan are clear and the barrel isn't too caked either.

Im hoping I can atleast rebuild it to a display level someday, with just completing the existing hammer. But if it were possible to replace the thing as a whole, that would be amazing!

Its unlikely though, as its around 270 some years old now.

Anyway, here are some photos. If any of you guys know anything about these guns, i'd love some general info. Most sources online that display this pistol are auction sites, and they don't really offer much info. All I know is that it was made in 1740 and is british.

Somebody snapping it without a flint or block in the ####?

The #### could be repaired; would require welding. Making a top jaw and screw is certainly possible.
It might be possible to obtain a replacement #### that could be fitted.
To have the repairs done by a skilled 'smith is going to cost. Done properly, it would take close inspection to tell that the #### had been repaired.

Try w ww.peterdyson.co.uk
They offer some boxlock pistol cocks. Might be possible to fit one.

Looks like a nicely made piece especially with the silver wire inlays. Broken #### and missing plate and screw are not too big a deal -just time consuming. Age I would put about 1790-1810 period when boxlock was the rage for pocket and boot pistol sizes. Value I would guess about 700-or so in my area for one in this condition. Cheers,

Dixie could supply the complete ####-plate-screw, have the missing parts fitted and tig welded to your original hammer. You save the original engraving and mechanics. Just a thought. Nice gun!
