Info with 9mm C.O.L.

I have been using FMJ HP Zero's 125g 9mm with Bullseye powder with a max col of 1.075. Now using FCP HP 124g Campro 9mm. The only recipe I have calls for a COL of 1.120. Made a couple with this COL and just seems to be to long. Anybody have some insight or actually have a recipe for Campro with Bullseye powder. Just trying to get a better idea on the COL before I make a dozen to take to the range.

I am loading the 124gr Campro HP to 1.085" OAL over 4.3gr of WW231. Functions 100% in my G19, have not tried it in my NP-29 yet.

as long as your using the starting load for what ever powder you use for the closest bullet weight, use what ever OAL that fits your gun properly and mags.

make a dummy round with no crimp on it (just enough to get so it seats in your chamber) then in stages seat it deeper and deeper until it fits your chamber and freely falls out. once you have said number add the starting charge of your desired powder and go from there.

Remove the barrel from your pistol. Drop a loaded round into the chamber. It should drop out when the barrel is upended. If it sticks, grip the rim with a pair of pliers and twist the round back and forth a few times. When the round is removed you will see how much of the bullet is being scratched by the lands and can shorten OAL appropriately.

I discovered that I had been loading my 9mm ammo too long for quite a long time now. As long as the round will chamber and fire it should be fine. Long loaded ammo will only really cause problems when you have to eject a live round.
