Hello All
I have in my possession a Colt Burgess Rifle with round barrel, caliber 44/40.
I am looking for any information available on this rifle. I requested same from Colt who said they do not supply this information but would be willing to buy it. Any information out there would be appreciated

The Colt-Burgess Lever action rifle was produced from 1883 - 1885. Production stopped when Winchester threatened to start making revolvers. Cal .44-40. Rifle version has 25.5" barrel. Carbine has 20.5" barrel. The barrels are blued, with case-coloured hammer and lever. The Colt Hartford address is on the barrel and "Burgess Patent" stamped on the bottom of the lever.

1219 rifles were produced with round barrels and 2556 with octagon barrels. There were also 2593 carbines made.

In Good condition the rifles are listed at $3500, Carbines at $5000.
In Fair condition $1500 $2000.
In Poor condition $550 $950.

There was also "Baby" Carbine (very rare) which adds $1000 to the price.

This information is from the 2003 Standard Catalog of Firearms (page 292).
