Inglis BHP Dilemma

Hey guys want to hear your input on this.

So i got a very good condition Inglis BHP and i understand that they are a "collectors" piece but ive been thinking about customizing/tuning it up to be a bit more "modern" such as adding night sights, stippling the front and rear straps on the frame, trigger jobs etc. should i do it?or keep it stock? Lets hear your input.

Also can someone help me determine when my inglis was made? Ser# 0T###X

The Inglis HP are very sought after by collectors. If you modify it in any way you will be considered a "bubba". A "Custom" job on that pistol could take a $900 pistol and reduce its value to around $400. Not to mention you will be disfiguring a piece of history. If you really want a custom High Power, put the inglis on the EE, and take the money and buy a brand new HP. If it is really in good shape, it could fetch anywhere from $800 to $1200.

As for the date on manufacture, I can not help with that, but from what I read, 0T serials are rare.

Yes, there are a lot of them, but not enough for everyone who wants one. That is why they increase in value, if kept in collectible condition. Or decrease in value if modified and shot a lot.

Unless you want one in unmodified condition as a collectible, it is an inefficient use of your money to own one in such condition, and worse to modify it. But it's your money to use, or waste, if it comes to that.
 
0T's would be made in '42..

As mentioned...its your gun... you can do what you want with it....

There are a lot of Hi-Powers out there you can "customize" to your liking. The Inglis guns are a lot of work to convert and they have "collector" value if left original.

Just my 2 cents.... I would leave it and get another pistol to make "yours"
 
Just buy a newer Browning HP and save the Inglis. No use dumping a lot of time and money into trying to change a gun that has collector value.
 
Lots of Belgian HPs to work on if you want a customized HP.
Shame to bugger up a nice as issued Inglis.
Sell it, put the money toward what would likely be a better shooter.
 
0T would be made in 1944. Inglis only made them in 44-45.
You will be taking a good collectors piece and spending several hundred dollars to reduce its value by 2/3. Sell it and buy a Belgian with all the features.
 
T serial numbers were for pistols destined for Canadian and British forces. The T represented Toronto. 0T1 - 0T3020 were produced between Feb & May 1944, 0T3021-0T4223 June 1944, 0T4224-0T7823 July 1944 and 0T7824-1T3223 August 1944.
I agree with the earlier responses, save this piece of history and if you really need customised features, sell it and get a Browning MkIII with the polished ramp, stronger frame etc.
