I am looking around for a relatively fair priced Browning or Inglis 9mm handgun. I think that's what the old Canadian Military service handguns were called. If anyone can give me any info on where I could get my hands on one that would be great. I would like one that was Canadian issue partly due to the historic value.

I was at an auction recently where one was sold for over $600. I thought this was a tad much for this model. Any thoughts on that?

Yes, they are still in use by the CF, and yes, the CF does still have some manufactured in WWII that are packed in grease and waiting to be issued for the first time.

It is becoming harder and harder to find Browning (Inglis Mk2) pistols in "decent" shape for less that $500.... I've been looking for one for a couple of years, and have been disappointed by either condition or price so far. The CF doesn't like to give up any kit before it's been really well used!

Good luck with your hunt!

Good luck on your search, $500-600 is where you find these pistols

I just bought a FN made Hipower (with WW2 German Army stamps) and I still would like to find an Inglis one to keep it company.

But I guess that will now have to wait as next years big purchace :)

Perhaps the spring purchace and save the AR15 for the fall purchace :) I love my wife for putting up with my addiction

Yes, the Inglis High Power is still Canada's primary military handgun, more than 60 years after they were all manufactured!

Here is one of several images I got from a National Defence website showing Canadian Military personnel carrying Inglis pistols during their current deployment in Afghanistan. It and several other similar images are posted here in the CGN thread:

I bought my #'s matching CH version about 4 years ago. Got the pistol, 2 mags,a military holster , leather shoulder rig and 350+ rounds of ball ammo for $350.
I felt guilty paying that for it...for about 5 seconds! :D
